Astrid Walker-Stewart is an urban planner at New York City’s Housing Preservation and Development Agency. She plans and manages the development of affordable housing in the Bronx and is invested in creating high-quality homes for everyone. Prior to working in New York, she worked for the City of Boston as a neighborhood planner and later, on the zoning reform team, where she focused on introducing sustainability and resiliency requirements into the city’s zoning code. She holds a BA in architecture and psychology from Columbia University and an MSc in City Design and Social Science from the London School of Economics. Her passion for architectural preservation and modernism stems from childhood roundtrips with her family from her hometown of Toronto to Buffalo and Detroit.
