Description
Joan M. Brierton is an architectural historian and historic preservation specialist with more than 30 years of experience across the nonprofit, private, and public sectors. As a senior historic preservation specialist with the U.S. General Services Administration’s Center for Historic Buildings, she gained national recognition as a federal regulatory compliance expert, managing Section 106 consultation for complex and high-profile GSA restoration, redevelopment, and new construction projects. In 1999, Ms. Brierton was detailed by GSA to the White House Millennium Council, where she managed the federal Save America’s Treasures program. In 2014, she served as producer for the documentary film Victor Lundy: Sculptor of Space, which chronicles the life and career of modern-era master architect Victor A. Lundy. Ms. Brierton is the author of American Restoration Style: Victorian (1998) and a contributor to Victor Lundy, Artist Architect (Princeton Architectural Press, 2018). She holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design and Planning from the University at Buffalo and a Master of Science in Historic Preservation from the University of Pennsylvania.
